Wiyot Tribe

Description
Wiyot Tribal Library, Archives, and Heritage Center. "The Heritage Center is home to a permanent collection of Wiyot cultural materials acquired from repatriation, gifts, and purchases. The Center also showcases temporary exhibits and a permanent display in the Community Center. The Wiyot Tribe is dedicated to the preservation and appropriate use of this collection, integrating traditional care practices with standard best museum practices... The library seeks to hold a complete collection of all materials relating to Wiyot culture for the benefit of tribal members and the neighboring community. The library will also maintain a collection of materials that are particularly appropriate for Native American Children... Archives include written documents, family photos, audio and video recordings, and a growing number of family histories." Links to limited digital materials are available on the site, with plans for further digitization of materials, including transcripts and audio recordings of the Wiyot language. See website for full details.
