Arizona State Museum: website provides online exhibits and podcasts, photo and artifact collections, as well as select digital collections. Holdings across the Museum's collections include 3 million objects. ASM's collections are held in trust for the people of the state of Arizona and include 300,000 catalogued archaeological artifacts, 40,000 ethnographic artifacts, 500,000 photographic negatives and original prints, and 90,000 volumes of rare and hard-to-find book and publication titles. Artifacts represent 400 different culture groups, with more than one-third from the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. ASM's photographic collection's emphasis is on prehistoric and historic archaeology and ethnology of the Native peoples of the American Southwest and northern Mexico. Photographs document both fieldwork and artifacts. The research library specializes in archaeology, bioarchaeology, anthropology, and ethnology of the U.S. Southwest and northern Mexico and is open to the public. It is designed to reduce the amount of research time for preservation professionals and academic researchers conducting regulatory reviews, research, and historic preservation planning. Serves as a consolidated informational network of recorded cultural resources, including prehistoric and historic sites and properties, and surface surveys within the state of Arizona and a 40-mile buffer around the state, many survey records are georeferenced in the site's GIS system.
