Smithsonian Folkways recordings

Under the category 'American Indian' more than 3,200 albums and 45,000 tracks are available. Materials include songs, dances, and documentary audio recordings with some accompanying text. Many files are freely available to stream online, others are sold as digital downloads. Full collection is searchable by term or available for navigation by geographic, cultural, language, and media format categories. Podcasts, interactive material and lesson plans, and a limited number of curated collections for educational purposes are also available online. Some language recordings may also be available. The Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives and Collection, strong in American, and more specifically Euro-American, African-American, Caribbean, and Native American musical and performance traditions are also available on site by appointment, see website for details.
