Makah Cultural and Research Center

Description
Includes the world renowned Makah Museum, as well as the Museum store, Makah Language Program, Archives and Library Department, Makah Education Department, and Tribal Historic Preservation Office. The museum interprets and houses 300-500 year old artifacts recovered from the Ozette Archaeological Site. There are also other historic and replica pieces and photographs related to the Makah Tribe on display year-round. The exhibits feature 500 artifacts including whaling and fishing gear, basketry and replicas of a full size long house and canoes. The Library and Archives Department houses photographs, textual records, oral history and language materials, supporting staff, community, and scholarly research needs. Digitization projects are also underway to increase access to materials held in the archive. See website for further details.
