Description
"The library holds more than 2 million print volumes and provides access to a vast array of electronic resources, both subscription and Open Access." Relevant digital collections include: Aztec Regalia by Javier Galvez: a collection of photographs and descriptions of uses and materials; Handbook of the Indians of California: Originally published in 1925, this monograph is a representative work of Alfred L. Kroeber’s (1876-1960) contributions to American Indian ethnology; Pueblo and Plains Indian Watercolors: The artworks in this collection were produced by artists from the Pueblo and Plains American Indian cultures in the early twentieth century. The works demonstrate a number of very fine examples of the broad aesthetic of American Indian Modern painting. The works in this collection form part of the Hartley Burr Alexander Collection of American Indian Artwork; West-ography, re-imaging the West: primarily consists of photographs documenting how the American west has been imaged historically and over the years. Initially, photographs included landscape photography and portraits of Native Americans – as the collection grows portraits of pioneers and other documentary photographs such as photographs from various Western fiestas and/or pageantry will be added. Note: Currently, the collection includes select Edward S. Curtis photogravures from his The North American Indian: a series of volumes picturing and describing the Indians of the United States, and Alaska numbered plate portfolios and boxes 1 and 4 from the Charles Lummis photograph collection which cover the American southwest and California.
