Description
Yup’ik Historical Narratives and Traditional Tales, Stories for Future Generations: a collection of oral histories and traditional tales that were recorded from Yup'ik elders in southwest Alaska by anthropologist Ann Fienup-Riordan and Yup'ik community members between 1977 and 1991. Includes stories in Yup’ik and in English to serve native speakers, linguists, anthropologists, and general readers. A sample of the fuller project materials is currently available online, with audio recordings and transcriptions of the tales as available, the project is anticipated to contain two sets of approximately fifty stories each. Those provided online are accessible to the public, further restricted content may be available to community members. See website for details.
