Description
The Logan Museum of Anthropology houses over 300,000 archaeological and ethnographic objects from 123 countries, offers physical and virtual exhibitions, and digital collections and catalogues online. Notable ethnographic collections include Native North and South American, Asian, Pacific, and African material. Particular strengths in archaeology include European Paleolithic, North African, Wisconsin, Great Plains, Southwestern U.S., Mesoamerican, and South American collections. The Beloit College campus is also located on the site of 20 conical, linear, and animal effigy mounds built between about AD 400 and 1200. Holdings are accessible to "members of groups whose traditional culture is represented by the collections held by the Museum. The Museum also grants loans of collection items to bona fide academic and cultural institutions." See website for further details.
