Dedicated to the perpetuation and presentation of the local Kumeyaay-Diegueño Native culture. Free admission. Virtual exhibits include the searchable Speer Collection, primarily from the back country of San Diego, such as the areas of Mason Valley, Vallecitos Valley, and McCain Valley and consists of manos, pestles, metates, projectile points, doughnut stones, arrow-shaft straighteners, cog stones, pottery, and numerous other artifacts. Physical exhibits include a timeline exhibit with information from historic and recent interviews, archives, and family photographs, as well as basketry and other physical object collections. The Barona Cultural Center & Museum’s Research Library offers a wide range of materials that document the history, culture, and arts of all indigenous peoples of the Americas but with a focus on Southern and Baja California Native American communities.
