Anchorage Museum

Description
Current and archived exhibits available online, museum also offers a library and archives. The Anchorage Museum library focuses on the history, ethnography, science and art of Alaska and the North. The collections include more than 12,000 books, 300 rare books, 800 Alaska maps, auction catalogs, and periodicals about Alaska and art. The collection is non-circulating, but the public is welcome to do on-site research. Artist profiles also kept on site and select collection guides are available online. Also on site, the Smithsonian Institution has loaned hundreds of indigenous Alaska artifacts to their place of origin, allowing access for hands-on study by Alaska Native elders, artists and scholars. These are exhibited in the new Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center in the Anchorage Museum. See website for full holdings and details on access.
